🏈 Charles Barkeys statement!!

To a degree I agree with him. Chizik does have the worse resume. I thought I had read on here that Gill had turned the job down?

IDK if Gill was offered the job or not, but I'd much rather have him than a 5-19 coach. However on the other side of the coin GIZ aka Chiz was at barn when they went unbeating back in 04 I think that was the year, and has good ties with the AU.

Personally if Gill is that good of a coach it want be long before he gets his shot. I think time will show how good Ghiz really is lol! 5-19 !!!

It doesn't matter any more if Gill turned the job down or not. It wouldn't have mattered anyway. Chuck's a loud-mouthed blowhard who would have run with it regardless.

Having said that, their boy Turner wasn't hired by Auburn.........or Washington, or Tennessee, or Kansas State, or Mississippi State. You'd have to think that Gill is a better choice than Chizik but on the other hand, there must be a reason no one seems to want to hire the golden boy.

Anyway, it's Auburn's problem to deal with and not ours thankfully.

Gill's record at Buffalo is 15-22..not much better than Chizik's record at Iowa State. So what's the big deal?
You cannot hire people just because they ARE black or just because they ARE NOT black. If you do that, you're gonna get what MSU got with Sylvester Croom....a really bad head coach. At the end of a season, color doesn't matter but wins and losses mean everything...so hire the BEST candidate, based solely on their coaching abilities and their character as a human being, nothing else.

Sorry y'all, it totally irritates me...we're in a world where white people still discriminate...yes, that's true unfortunately....but it's also true that SOME black people...notice i said SOME BLACK PEOPLE, NOT ALL OF THEM...use their color as a crutch to get positions based on their skin color, rather than their ability.

Gil has that record with a lower tier team. He took Buffalo to their first conference title in school history. I think he deserves a shot at a good big time school...i.e Auburn and Tenny.

There is no way that anybody can convince me that Chizzy was a better candidate than Gil.

The Mac is a lower tier conference. Who knows who the best hire was only time will tell. I for one would think Gill would have been, but what the Barn was looking for is someone to recurite against Saban and Chiz. has been in the SEC and recurited there Gill has not.

My understanding is he got the job because he is Pat Dye's buddy.

Amazing how a coach who never won a NC and managed to get their program put on probation has so much power over who is hired to coach that team.

If they had hired the TCU coach, or Boise's coach, or Utah's coach, i dont think Barkley would have a leg to stand on. But I dont know how anyone could think Chizik was the best coach out there.

I agree, and he's also a better candidate than Kiffin at UT.

So all white people discriminate, but only some black people use their reace as a crutch?

Saban had never been in the SEC until LSU, and he did a pretty good job of recruiting

That said, the barn has a Shula of a coach, and it's time to Roll. :D
