Everything I had read the last week or so was that the RB coach at Ohio State, Tony Alford (former CSU RB) was the favorite... I like the idea of Butch to CSU though. We'll see how it goes

Sounds like a "he's one of us" versus verified HC experience debate. Hope they don't make a decision based on "getting a deal."

I think that's a valid point. I also think it's fair to say Butch was qualified and failed at UT....

You can't be a good coach until you've been a head coach. Can't be a bad one either. Someone has to give you that first chance to get your hands dirty.

Ultimately I think there's a lot of grey area in the coaching field. Timing....Location....Luck....Support.... A lot can fall in or out of place. Not saying it's all good or bad fortune but I've seen good coaches fail and bad coaches succeed in a given circumstance.

Now if that doesn't confuse y'all on how I feel about it, I don't know what would! LOL. I like Butch, would be happy to see him get the gig. RTR

GREAT point. I never really laughed at Butch for that debacle.... Kind of felt sorry for him. Yes he came off as goofy/weird, but I did think he had great intentions and generally carried himself with class. I know the UT fans think he's a joke, but he had legit success at 2 places that weren't exactly football destinations, which could bode well for the Rams.
