I've watched my Dad catch many fish much larger than the 4 lb test light rig he crappie fishes with is designed to take, including a 50 pound blue. When he hooks something like that around a pier, if it moves to open water he has a fair chance with it. We've followed them around for 45 minutes before they tire.
The 120 pounder is in a different realm, for sure.
