TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – A four-game roadtrip for Alabama baseball begins in Mobile as the 24th-ranked Crimson Tide travels to South Alabama on Tuesday. First pitch at Stanky Field is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. CT with the game airing on ESPN+.

TUESDAY: UA – Luke Holman (So., RHP) vs. USA – Mitchell Heer (So., RHP)

Leading Off​

• Alabama and South Alabama will meet for the 111th time in series history on Tuesday evening at Stanky Field. The Crimson Tide leads the all-time series, 62-48, but the Jaguars hold the advantage in Mobile, 30-21.
• The two teams last met on Mach 29 of last season with the Tide claiming a 5-4 win in Tuscaloosa. The victory was part of UA's current six-game winning streak over South.
• Alabama's last trip to Mobile came from March 1-2, 2019 for a weekend series. The Crimson Tide swept the Jaguars across the three-game set by scores of 7-3, 10-5 and 6-1.
• Alabama will look to right-hander Luke Holman for Tuesday's in-state matchup. The sophomore has been the Tide's primary midweek starter to begin the 2023 campaign and will be making his fifth appearance overall and fourth start. He owns a 3-0 record with a 1.93 ERA (3 ER/14.0 IP).
• South Alabama will call on Mitchell Heer, also a right-handed sophomore. Heer is making his second start of the season and third appearance overall. He enters Tuesday night with a 3.18 ERA (2 ER/5.2 IP).

Bama wins 4-0 in what was basically a bullpen outing for USA’s pitchers. Really nice start by UA’s Luke Holeman (7 IP, 3 H, 9 K, 0 BB, 0 R). @TerryP brought up the other day Holeman maybe sliding into the Sunday role and bumping McNairy... Not sure if Bohannon will (or has?) address it, but I could absolutely see it as a possibility now if McNairy falters this weekend. FR LHP Alton Davis got the final 6 outs for the Tide... he had had a rough go of it a few days ago against Columbia (he's not the only one...), but if the staff develops him like they should, he's going to be really, really good down the road. Will Hodo led Bama at the plate with 2 hits and 3 RBI (including a 2 run HR). SEC play begins Thursday night with a 3 game series in Gainesville... and the Gators, like Bama, have some big bats... Will be a nice test right out of the SEC gate for Alabama.

MOBILE, Ala. – Alabama baseball's Luke Holman and Alton Davis II combined to shut out South Alabama 4-0 on Tuesday evening at Stanky Field. The 22nd-ranked Crimson Tide is now 16-2 heading into Southeastern Conference play.

Luke Holman (4-0) was impressive once again, picking up his team-leading fourth win of the year. The sophomore tossed a career-high 7.0 innings of scoreless baseball, allowing just three hits while striking out nine. Alton Davis II followed with 2.0 frames that included one punchout to secure the 4-0 victory.

Alabama's offense was powered by Will Hodo. The sophomore finished 2-for-4 with a home run, three RBI and a run scored. Hodo's two hits were a part of the Tide's 10 total in the contest.

"Obviously, the story of the game for us was Luke Holman. He was outstanding. Any time you go 7.0 shutout innings with three hits, no walks and nine punchouts, you give your team a chance to win. (Will) Hodo hit the two-run home run and then got the big two-out single and that was the story offensively for us. Overall, this was a great win and will give us some momentum headed to Gainesville."

How It Happened​

• T3 | Will Hodo sent a 1-1 pitch over the wall in right for a two-run homer. (2-0, Alabama)
• T4 | Drew Williamson got aboard with a leadoff walk before stealing second to put himself in scoring position. On the very next pitch, Williamson came home thanks to an RBI-single from Dominic Tamez. (3-0, Alabama)
• T5 | Caden Rose reached on a fielder's choice before stealing second. The play resulted in an errant throw that allowed the junior to move to third. One out later, Hodo singled to left to score Rose and make it a four-run ballgame. (4-0, Alabama)
