hmm...

Yeah that is what i noticed too. In a game where both teams are pretty evenly matched, that can be a game breaker. Especially since they have given up THIRTEEN third down conversions to penalties. Bama has given up THREE. They do have an advantage in passing offence though. But, when has Bama really HAD to pass this year?

This is going to be a great game!

yup penalties very well could make or break this game. I hope its close and I can oly hope we walk away with the big W. I hope CNS and staff get our boys so fired up and ready to display what thier true identity is! RTR

hmm...

SEC home game for Georgia... I'm not counting on penalties. I don't think I saw them call a single holding penalty in the AU/LSU game, so I wouldn't expect it here either.

Something is going to have to give when it comes to the rushing defense vs. the rushing offense for both teams.

Georgia's rank in run defense really doesn't mean a whole lot considering the best run offense they have faced is ranked 96th nationally.

Heck, a lot of these stats after 4 weeks of play fall into that same category.

Honestly, it's about like the Sagarin ratings. Those are based on who you have played, who they have played, etc. They are worth paying a little attention to the first of October, more so in November, and give you a good insight by the time December rolls in.

But now?

The only glaring difference on both sides of the ball is in the passing category.

UGA #2 and #1 in passing offense and passing efficiency yet #11 on both sides of that coin on D. If we could exploit that when we have the ball it would help.

Passing efficiency is rated where it is, as well as passing offense, because they have thrown the ball for 375+ more yards than we have. That's why there is a disparity in the rankings of passing offense.

The teams they have faced, they've allowed them to pass the ball just like they have been accustomed to in each game they have played.

When you look at the running offense, you see that we've ran the ball about 200 more yards than they have.

BUT, here's the bottom line.

Average number of points put up per game?

Georgia 35.5.
Alabama 36.

These two teams are very, very evenly matched.

Finding areas to pick out and point to isn't going to make anyone feel any better and quite frankly doesn't have that much of an effect on this game one way or another.
