BAMA Picks up Three More Commitments!
Nick Saban's Crimson Tide has just picked up a couple of new verbal commitments within the last couple of days. One for the 2008 class and one for the 2009.

OT - Barrett Jones (Evangelical Christian/Memphis, TN) 6-5/272/5.0 - Alabama's 2008 Class added another hog to the O-line today when Memphis standout Barrett Jones verbally committed to the Crimson Tide. Jones is viewed by some as the top recruit in the state of Tennessee for 2008. He will immediately add depth to the left or right tackle position on BAMA's line. Jones is a superb run blocker who gets great leverage and a strong push. He also shows good footwork and quickness with his pass protection. Jones has a strong upper body, good coordination, and enough athletic ability to dunk a basketball. Off the field, he is an excellent student and will easily qualify. Jones' father, Rex, is a former Crimson Tide basketball player. Barrett chose the Tide over offers from Florida, Tennessee, Auburn, Arkansas, Ole Miss, Vanderbilt, Miami, Louisville, Clemson, and UCLA among others.
DT - DJ Fluker (Biloxi HS/Biloxi, MS) 6-7/325/5.2 - Alabama's 2009 class started off with a bang today when Biloxi's DJ Fluker announced that he wanted to play for the Tide. Fluker is a massive defensive tackle prospect who uses his size and strength to get off blocks and make plays along and behind the line of scrimmage. While his size is impressive, he moves well for a big man and shows good quickness. Early on, the Tide coaches had talked to Fluker about possibly playing offensive tackle, but at this point, it looks like nose tackle will be the position that best fits him. Though he is only a junior, he already had offers from LSU, Florida, Auburn, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Clemson, Louisville, and Notre Dame.
LB/DE - Don'ta Hightower (Marshall County HS/Lewisburg, TN) 6-3/238/4.7 - Many BAMA fans will be happy to hear that the Tide added a commitment from one of the south's top linebacker prospects today when Don'ta Hightower verbally committed to Alabama during a morning press conference at his school. Hightower was recruited as a middle linebacker by the Tide staff, but he could also play some defensive end in Saban's 3-4 system as well. He reads plays well, gets off blocks quickly, and is relentless on the ball carrier. Hightower will compete for playing time right away, and from a physical standpoint, he's ready to play college football. For his senior season, he has collected over 100 tackles, forced 4 fumbles, and had 5 interceptions. The Lewisburg standout chose Alabama over offers from Tennessee, Auburn, South Carolina, Ole Miss, Vanderbilt and Georgia Tech. Off the field, he is a good student who will have no issues getting qualified.
