A Bama Merry Christmas

'Twas the night before Christmas, and all thru Bama land

Not a recruit was a stirring just waiting on great fans?

The footballs were waiting by the chimney with care;

in hopes that St. Nick soon would visit them there

The prospects were nestled all snug in their beds,

while visions of Coach Bryant still danced in their heads;

with momma in her kerchief, and me with my beer

we had just watched the 92 video of Bama winning the year

When out in the yard  there arose such a clatter,

I jumped from the couch to see what was the matter.

Away to door I flew like a flash,

Tore down the screen door cause I slipped on the grass.

The moon on my sign that says beat Auburn next year

gave a luster of crimson and white RollllTide! cheer.

When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,

but a giant grey elephant with big flapping ears.

With a new leader so lively and quick

I knew in a moment it must be Coach Nick

More rapid than "wore eagles" his prospects they came

and he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name

Star Jackson, and Preyear, with Matchett, and Smelley

On Lester, on Robby, on Julio, and Wesley

To the top of the charts to the top of the polls

Now Sign away, sign away, sign away all

As Dry eyes before the Hurricanes fall

The Crimson Tide will soon win it all

So up to the House-top the new elephants flew

with hope of great wins and Coach Saban too

And then, in a hammering I heard on the roof

The stomping and pounding of a whole new crew

As I finished my beer and was turning around

Down the chimney Coach Nick came with a bound

He was dressed all in Crimson from his head to his feet

and his voice was steady and calming to me.

A bundle of presents he had flung on his back

New scholarships for a few that can make the pack.

His eyes how they sparkled his smile without fear

his cheeks were like iron, his stance like the Bear.

A wink of his eye and an awright from his head

soon gave me to know I had nothing to dread

He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work

and signed 5 Star recruits then turned with a jerk

and pointing the finger at Tommy & Les

he flew up the charts cause he knows he's the best.

He sprang to his Lear Jet, to his team and said less go win

Our Recruiting is fine and we don't need ESPN

But I heard him exclaim, as he drove out of sight

Merry Bama Christmas to all and get ready for a fight.
