| BSB/SB ⚾ Bama Falls in Back-and-Forth Contest with No. 6 Arkansas, 9-6 (Rubber Match, Sunday at 2 CT on SECN)

Bama wins it 12-1. Just like 2 years ago, Bama went up there and pounded a highly ranked Hog team on Friday night... hopefully, unlike 2 years ago, they can build some momentum off it and win the series. Winning game 1 on the road in the SEC is always nice, but as a bonus, the Tide was able to save all their high leverage bullpen arms for the next 2 days. At the plate, 8 of 9 Bama starters had a multi hit game, 22 hits in all. Ben Hess earned the easy win, Hagan Banks relieved him, throwing 4 flawless innings, and Connor Ball pitched the 9th.

Game 2 is tomorrow afternoon at 2 pm.

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Crimson Tide bats were on fire Friday night at Baum-Walker Stadium, powering Alabama baseball to a 12-1 victory over sixth-ranked Arkansas. With the win, the Crimson Tide improves to 21-6 overall and 3-4 in Southeastern Conference action.

Alabama's offense recorded a season-high 22 hits on the way to 12 runs for the win. The Tide scored in five of the nine innings with all nine starters recording at least one hit, including eight multi-hit performances. The bats also produced four home runs with one apiece from Drew Williamson, William Hamiter, Colby Shelton and Mac Guscette.

Williamson tied for the team lead in hits with three while adding two RBI, two runs and a walk. Shelton and Guscette each tallied two hits and two runs with Shelton adding a walk and an RBI while Guscette recorded two RBI to tie for the team-best mark. Caden Rose, Ed Johnson and Tommy Seidl each matched Williamson for the team lead in hits with three.

The Tide also received a strong performance from its pitching staff. Ben Hess (4-0) picked up the win in a shortened outing, tossing 4.0 innings and allowing one run on two hits with five punchouts. Hagan Banks followed, retiring all 12 batters he faced in order across his 4.0 relief frames, before Connor Ball worked a scoreless ninth.

From Head Coach Brad Bohannon

"It was just our night. It was one of those nights where we hit a lot of balls hard, everything that we hit found a hole and we pitched great. Ben Hess gave us a really good start, and Hagan Banks was outstanding in relief. We out-hit a team 22-3 – that just doesn't happen often. I'm really proud of our effort and hope we can carry this momentum into tomorrow."

Saturday - Game 2

Bottom 5th
Alabama- 4
Arkansas- 3

Luke Holman on the mound, pitched really well through 3, but ran into trouble in the 4th the 2nd time through the Arky lineup. The Tide bats are still warm from last night though... chased the Hogs starter in 4th.

Bama's circus act carried over to the field... gave 2 extra outs to the Hogs on an infield flyball single (yes) and a dropped/misplayed foul pop thanks to a Bama coach that wasn't paying attention and got in the way of Tamez and Shelton at the dugout rail... RIley Quick relived Holman, gave up a run, but got the final 2 outs. But, 4-4 now, headed to the 7th...

In the bottom of the 7th, Bohannon was tossed for arguing balls and strikes... he was as pissed as I've ever seen him. He called the Hogs on his way out to either mock the fans who were jeering him or mock the ump. Hogs Immediallty responded with a 2 run single off our best (or 2nd best) reliever (Cade Woods). Headed to the 8th now, Bama down 6-5.

Sounds like coaching literally costed us this game.

Definitely a couple of head scratching moments that hurt Bama... the baserunning issues are inexcusable. An assistant (couldn't quite tell who it was), not paying attention and letting a foul pop glance off his arm at the dugout rail while his own guys are trying to catch it? That's, find your own way back to Tuscaloosa level inexcusable.

I said the other day this team is good and has the guys to win, but they aren't good enough to overcome stupid shit. There's been 1 game each SEC series now that they've lost, that IMO they should have won. This one was a little more iffy than the other 2 based on the Hog bats late in the game, but I'd still group it with the other 2 loses.

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Alabama baseball traded blows with sixth-ranked Arkansas on Saturday, with the Crimson Tide coming up short, 9-6, in a back-and-forth contest at Baum-Walker Stadium. The Tide is now 21-7 on the season and 3-5 in Southeastern Conference play.

Alabama got out to a 4-0 lead with one in the second and three in the fourth. Arkansas answered with a three-run home half of the fourth to cut the lead to one. The Hogs tied things up with one in the sixth, but the Tide countered with one in the seventh to retake the lead at 5-4. Following the stretch, a two-run frame put Arkansas back in front, but, once again, Alabama was able to even things up with a run in the eighth. In the home half of the eight, a pair of home runs staked the Razorbacks to a 9-6 advantage, the eventual final.

The Tide offense was solid once again, totaling 15 hits, including five for extra bases. Drew Williamson and Tommy Seidl tied for the team lead in hits with three apiece while Dominic Tamez led in RBI with two. Jim Jarvis and Andrew Pinckney rounded out the bats, each delivering a solo home run. Jarvis added a double, an RBI and a team-high two runs scored to his stat line.

Arkansas reliever Hagen Smith (5-0) picked up the win while Tide reliever Kade Woods (2-1) suffered the loss. Luke Holman was solid in his start, allowing four runs on three hits and two walks with eight strikeouts for Alabama.

From Head Coach Brad Bohannon

"We did a lot of good things. We out-hit them 15-9, had a lot of good at-bats and Luke Holman gave us a really good start. But we're still making way too many mistakes for an older team at this point in the year. When you play a really good team like Arkansas at their place, you have to play your A-game. They did a good job of taking advantage of our mistakes late."
