AUBURN, Ala. – Alabama's Bailey Hemphill became the third player in program history to surpass the 200 career RBI mark in a 6-0 win over Auburn Friday evening.

Hemphill led a potent Alabama (20-1, 1-0 SEC) offense with two home runs and five RBIs as part of a 3-for-4 day at the plate. The performance pushes her to 203 career RBIs, joining Charlotte Morgan (264) and Kaila Hunt (215) as the only Alabama players to reach the mark.

Hemphill's was one of four multi-hit performances against Auburn (16-2, 0-1 SEC), with Bailey Dowling, Elissa Brown and Alexis Mack each turning in two-hit games. The one Crimson Tide run not driven in by Hemphill came off the bat of Dowling, a second inning solo home run.

In the circle, Lexi Kilfoyl (8-0) went the distance with a 7.0 inning shutout, her fourth solo shutout of the season, along with a career-best 10 strikeouts.

HIGHLIGHTS
  • Bailey Hemphill surpassed the 200 career RBI mark, joining Charlotte Morgan (264) and Kaila Hunt (215) as the only Alabama players to do so

Bama takes game 1 6-0. Hemphill hit 2 bombs, the first of which I wish had StatCast info on it. Not sure I've seen one destroyed like that before. auburn had a good plan against Kilfoyl, but she adjusted. auburn left the bases loaded twice in the first 3 innings. Good to see KB Sides back for UA and leading off.

AUBURN, Ala. – Alabama softball clinched its weekend series against Auburn with a 4-1 win on Saturday.

Alabama (21-1, 2-0 SEC) has now won 18 of its 25 all-time SEC opening series, two of which have come over Auburn (16-3, 0-2 SEC). Kaylee Tow batted 3-for-4 from the cleanup spot, driving in two runs with a trio of doubles. The three doubles tie the single-game school record, matching previous performances by Brittany Rogers (May 15, 2008) and Kelley Montalvo (May 19, 2007).

In the circle, Montana Fouts (8-1) held the Tigers hitless until the top of the fifth, striking out seven with three hits and three walks. Leading the nation in strikeout-to-walk ratio heading into the weekend, her mark now stands at 96:7.

Had to have been over 400'. She hit the ball over the trees behind the scoreboard! More like 100' over the top of the fence. Those trees are probably 80-100' tall.

AUBURN, Ala. – Alabama softball earned a come-from-behind victory Sunday vs. Auburn to complete the weekend sweep, with a home run from Bailey Dowling putting the Crimson Tide ahead in the fifth inning.

Alabama (22-1, 3-0 SEC) fell behind after Auburn (16-4, 0-3 SEC) scored a pair of runs in the third inning, taking its first lead of the weekend. With two on and two out in the fifth inning, Dowling blasted a home run halfway up the scoreboard in left center to put the Tide ahead, 3-2. An insurance RBI single from KB Sides made it 4-2 in the top of the sixth, which ultimately proved final.

The sweep is Alabama's 11th on SEC opening weekend and its first on the road since sweeping Kentucky in Lexington in 2012.

Seven different players in the Tide lineup earned a hit, including two-hit performances from Elissa Brown, KB Sides and Alexis Mack. Lexi Kilfoyl (9-0) earned the win in the circle with Montana Fouts getting the save with 3.0 shutout innings behind her.

Winning games like this helps us down the road because it's in our memory banks if the situation comes up again.
