Chelsea youngsters fear exit due to FFP (Transfer Centre LIVE! All the latest deals, moves and rumours)
Chelsea’s homegrown stars fear the club will be forced to cash in on them if they fail to qualify for the Champions League to avoid further Financial Fair Play scrutiny, The Telegraph are reporting.
After spending over £600m since the takeover of Todd Boehly-Clearlake Capital, some of Chelsea's academy graduates believe they will be top of the list of players the club will sell.
Experts reckon Chelsea’s best way of assuring they avoid the threat of FFP consequences in such a scenario would be to sell academy products, who count as zero cost in Uefa’s calculations.

Pep Guardiola, "We trust the fullbacks we have."

Joao Cancelo’s departure leaves Manchester City short of specialist full-backs but, following the emergence of teenager Rico Lewis this season, Pep Guardiola feels he has adequate cover with three of his five centre-backs capable of filling in.

City therefore decided against making any late moves in the January transfer window themselves.

Guardiola said: “We talked about that but it took three minutes, the discussion.

“I said to (director of football) Txiki Begiristain, ‘We have to take a look’, and we could have gone into the market and paid a huge amount of money for one left-back, but we can handle the situation. I trust a lot the players I have.”

City could have triggered the buyback clause they inserted into the deal when they sold Pedro Porro to Sporting Lisbon last summer but they ruled it out.

Instead, the Spaniard joined Tottenham on loan with an obligation to buy, and he could make his debut for his new club against City on Sunday.

Guardiola said: “He was on the list but we would have to pay a buyback clause and he decided to go to Spurs.” (Transfer Centre LIVE! All the latest deals, moves and rumours)

With losses by both Arsenal and Man City, the top of the table is starting to get a bit more crowded than most thought it would before the World Cup.

@SnakeDoc If I could photoshop, I'd replace Theoden with Arteta.

And again...HA! Jorginho goes to Arsenal; a minute after he's subbed in, Arsenal goes down 1 - 0. Once a blue, always a blue! HA!

Btw, don't overlook that Chelsea might be getting its act together. It's just a matter of when Potter has had just about enough of both Mount and Havertz.

Twitter is buzzing about Pep to Chelsea (while that'd be GREAT, I'm not going to hold my breath). These FFP violations that Man City are looking at along with letting three of its better players go in these last two windows is making Pep think twice about his future there.

I was on the Man City forum last night, and I was a little surprised by how many posters thought Pep needed to go for a variety of reasons, but mostly for not setting up Haaland as well as he could. I guess I shouldn't have been, though, since I feel the same about Saban.

I haven't been a Man City/Premier League/soccer fan for too long, so I'm still learning about FFP and City's previous transgressions in that regard.

Marsch sacked by Leeds.
5 potential replacements according to The Mirror:

It's quite an impressive list.

Man City wants to replace Silva with Maddison; I think that's a good signing. It'll also prove that like Triple G, Southgate underutilized his squad at the World Cup. Man City also wants Chilwell. Back off, City! :)
Can't believe I missed this! I love Silva, but he's been getting a bit mouthy lately, so I'm OK with letting him go, especially if we can replace him with Maddison.

Wow! A full time draw with Sheffield United who are about to be promoted back to the Premier League. The replay will be @ Sheffield, right? That's going to be a rough one for them.

They do look like they are well on their way to promotion to League 2, though.
Replay tomorrow @ 1345 hours CST on ESPN2 and ESPN+.

Southampton's Nathan Jones already in danger of being sacked.

That is a complete dead-end job. I can't believe Southhampton has survived relegation these last few years. They're terrible.

@bama alum, thoughts?

Eh...As long as the team doesn't soften. Maybe the guys should be biting Havertz and Mount's heads off.

1. It's amazing Hassenhuttl kept them up for his entire tenure, given the amount of support he had relative to other clubs.
2. Maybe Felix can get out front and lead them through a pre-match haka.
