📝 🏈 '26 Class Recruiting Updates: #SummerReign -- The Crimson Tide now have FIVE (!) 5-Stars Committed:

Actually trust Brandon and Terry more than the services.

Ha... Only speaking for myself here, but most of those guys are plugged in pretty well on this recruiting stuff (even if I disagree with some stuff they do at times). But they are much more so dialed in on recruiting than me... it's their job. A job I wouldn't want and a job I would suck at since I have no desire for it. There's maybe 1 or 2 recruits a cycle that I try to dig into and closely follow... Ryan Williams was one for example. This latest commitment run was telegraphed from 1000 miles away though so there's really no secret to it. The premium sites are just waiting for the players to say it out loud so they can hit the publish buttons and upload the pre-written stories and silly Twitter graphics.

So what are being said about Edwards committed to Bama?
Edwards has been a silent commit for a while now. There's a few coming up that are unknown

Tank - A few people believe this is a close race @TerryP and I were discussing it earlier in the thread. There's a thought that money plays a big factor here but I still like Bama's chances. I'd say we're at about 40% with TAMU being around 30% and Oregon being around 30%. These two are throwing the bag at him to get him to leave the state. So I wouldn't count him as a Bama commitment yet, but word is that he was the silent commit that came in Today that Hayes referenced. I haven't honestly checked on my guy in Mobil about it or my guy in Bama's Locker room but I got burned last year because the sentiment in the building is almost always "positive" so it's hard to gauge from him. Lately I've been sticking to Highschool coaches and families/friends to get some information.
Zierer - Another kinda coin flip one...a lot of people think Bama is in play, but I think Auburn finally wins a commitment. They desperately need a win this month and I think they'll put the bag on the table and write a blank check to make sure they save face. Also Georgia and Michigan are in on him as well.
Cooley - LSU commitment but Bama's been hot on their heels trying to pull this guy away lately. They're trying to get him to visit in the fall and see if they can sway him away.
Tayden Kaawa - Up until recently wasn't sure, but seems to be Bama bound now. Thomalla and Kaawa are going to fight for the spot at some point, will be very interesting to see who develops better over time.
Elijah Golden - July 26th announcement not super optimistic here with Nolan Wilson commitment, I kinda think the staff just thinks of this one as icing if it happens they'll be all for it but they aren't worried about losing him. Notre Dame is still the team to beat here.
Nick Abrams - This one is optimistic to me. I've heard he's not heavy Bama lean but Bama does have the edge. I'm under the impression here that Bama is going to win this battle also.
Brayden Rouse - UT Commitment that Bama is trying to sway but I'm not believing he's going to flip IMO. I think he's likely staying with UT.

There's a few more that I'm even LESS certain would be committing to Bama at the moment, but I believe we're still looking to add some people and there will be a need to use the transfer portal

Great info. When it’s said and done, if able to keep what we have at this point, where do we finish nationally?

Yeah I was thinking about for a couple of weeks right now Griffin looks more like a safety.
The position has changed a lot the last 10 years. One of those changes are what weight guys are playing at right now. You're hardly ever going to see a 250 pound ILB anymore. That's due to how much the game has changed. It's all about having that sideline to sideline speed and the ability to cover guys out in space. I love linebackers that fit the new mold, and still play with physicality. Griffin fits this to a tee. He will hawk you down and take your head off.

If you've watched any video on Jireh Edwards he is a bigtime head hunter.

I looked at DeBoer's 'record' in early March just to see what kind of retention rate he had with recruits. It's a different 'ball game' when it comes to "football down south." Even compared to the better teams in the PAC, he did well keeping the guys who committed. Better than average; close o being one of he best in the PAC.

Retention, right? Last year's class that committed ... he did well there. We didn't see flips that stung, we saw a couple of roster guys leave.

Get this ... I'm casually "researching" that part of his coaching style and in March set it aside. My conclusion? The program is in good hands with these high school kids. While Bama isn't poor, it's the 'relationships' that are the fire powering that engine right now with the recruits. They see (loosely quoting what Ty said the other day) "this is will be one of the tightest, knit together ..." I've seen three guys coming in using the word "brotherhood."

Spring camp ends. The last portal closes. And what do I see now? For one, no one hit the portal. Everyone stayed with that "brotherhood."

Bama will lose their share. But, based on what I've just written—which is based on what we've just seen—I'm not worried.

A lot of us trust you (& Terry) because you say what you know & state what you believe (& distinguish between the two) & you don’t just bullshit if you don’t know. That’s rare today & damn near extinct on the internet.

I do make an effort (try to anyway) to draw that distinction.
