They're talking ESPN.

Personally I don't care if we ever get on the front page of ESPN. Those jokers are only showing us love now that we've done something. As soon as they can cap on us some more, they will.

ESPN is all about latching onto the coattails of the latest gravy train. If BAMA becomes dominant again a lot of people will conveniently forget how ESPN has treated us prior.

I know. After that win vs Fla in '05, Bama was all over every major sports publication. SI, ESPN, CBS, but ESPN doesn't archive their front page the way SI does.

I'm just saying I hope this year doesn't end the same as '05 because the starts to the season are looking to be pretty similar.

I knew what you meant. I remember that as well, with the BAMA's BACK headlines on the various pubs and websites.

I *think* I understand what you are saying and I hope you just used a bad analogy.

The Florida win was over-hyped considering even though we were undefeated going into that game our opponents had a combined record that was less than .500. (22-24)

A top ten Clemson team and that win is by no means comparable, or even in the same universe, as a win to start the season of '05 against Middle Tennessee State.

I’m not comparing the win against Clemson to a win vs MTSU, I’m comparing it to the win over Florida. That was the last time we played in the game of the week and won in dominating fashion and became the talk of college football the next day. I am assuming we’ll beat Tulane, Western Kentucky, and Arkansas because we should and at that point we will be in the same position as we were in ‘05 after we beat Florida. Undefeated after having overcome our only major obstacle for the first month of the season (Florida in ‘05 and Clemson this year). After that point in ‘05, our offense fell apart and we struggled to beat Ole Miss, UT, and MSU, before losing to LSU and AU. I’m saying that my hope for ‘08 is that the offense continues to look strong and improves during the season and doesn’t peak in the first month.

What threw me was this...

because the starts to the season are looking to be pretty similar.

I understand you were talking about the late season collapse. But again, you take the reasons for the collapse in '05 and they don't apply to '08.

Pro: We lost one playmaker. We only had one.
Closner: His loss hurt as well...considering who replaced him.

One another note, the "Bama is Back" on SI was laughable. Heck, even though we were winning I wanted Shula gone. '02 and '03 were good enough reasons to see he needed to be gone.
