Old news from yesterday, but...

Personally, at this point, I'm apathetic about any changes. They've already destroyed something that was beautiful. It's been like watching a beautiful woman who keeps getting cosmetic surgery to fix things that aren't broken, and a few years down the road she ends up looking like a goblin.

That is the best analogy yet.......Priscilla Presley and Courtney Cox come to mind. Demi Moore is heading that way fast.

On a side note, these Jack Asses still insist on having the Championship Game on a Monday night. Move it to a Saturday Night.

I’m beyond being frustrated with the money hunger turd heads continue to destroy the college game I grew up loving. Question how will they ā€œget around New Years. Dayā€ games when it falls on a Sunday or NFL playoff games on a Saturday? Just something to think on and ponder. All I can think of is the following:
Play 11 regular season games with one bye week.
Power 4 play only Power 4 schools.
If you play a group of ??? now, win or lose, you automatically drop 2-3 spots in the poll.
One week between the end of the regular season and playoffs.
Play all games on the home field until it’s down to the final four teams and then move to a neutral site.
I’m sure there are more things but these just came to mind quickly.
Feel free to add or disagree.

I have always been a proponent of having the season start the last weekend of August and give 2 off weeks during the season.

I'm ok with a 10 game schedule. 9 conference game and one patsy for homecoming..........but the universities will not give up the money for the one game. They make a fortune in concessions alone.

These sports were a gold mine for college athletics. The additions, not so much. NIL, Portal, expanded playoffs. Interest will flag. The movers and shakers of college sports are killing the goose that laid the golden egg. The less affluent schools (in terms of sports $ are already moving to eliminate non-revenue sports. The Charles Bediako story sickened me. As a d league player, he was making less than any of our MBB scholarship players. Whether you think he should have been allowed to play or not, he would have given value far greater than the bench riding freshman who has entered the portal seeking a pay raise.

Take a look at Division 2 football playoffs...

32 teams organized into 4 super-regions of 8 teams each
Prior to the championship game, all contests are hosted by the higher-seeded team
No 1st-round bye
Every conference champion is automatically in
Half the bracket is automatic qualifiers; the other half is at-large selections

I think they're trying to get Div 1 going the same way. Div 2 used to be 28 teams; it was upped to 32 teams last season. There used to be a 1st-round bye for (I'm assuming) conference champions. Not anymore.

Is it wrong to say I miss the old BCS model?

Do they actually believe a team from #9 to #24 actually has a snowballs chance in Hell of winning the championship?

Money grubbers. I hope money is lost due to few tv viewers for those early games.

9-24 have a chance. Better chance at delivering an upset ( happen every week in the fall). Matchups...weather..injuries...so much can determine a game..

To win 3-4 games....ummmmm
But miami made good run. .....last year..... They were way down there....

Another little something to chew on ...

No championship games is going to mean shared conference titles. But, winning the conference has to be included in selections and auto-bids. Where does that leave selections?

We're right back to what committees wanted out of the game; ridiculous scoring margins influence.

Two teams from the SEC that are undefeated and don't play each other:

Current Tie-breakersWhat happens if ...
Head to headdoesn't matter
record vs common opponentsdoesn't matter
record vs highest ranked common oppdoesn't matter
cumuative conference winning percentagedoesn't matter
Capped relative total scoring margin. Here's my point...and it gets worse.
Random drawa coin flip...could have been settled with a CCG

Undefeated season are less likely now. The chances of not seeing the same opponents is greater than ever.

Just reading the logic this morning about how expanding the playoffs helps find a true national champion but it doesn't effect the regular season while also suggesting eliminating a game that finds out the true SEC season champion.
