šŸ“” A new federal college athletics bill was introduced. (And it's dead on arrival.)

I have been saying for years that it is blatantly obvious that the political class in the US is dumber than a box of rocks, and this just makes my point. It's astonishing how ignorant and clueless this is. I would love to see every member of congress forced to take an IQ test and see how many were in the single digits.

The strategy is to pack a lot of stupid things into the bill so when it’s ā€œnegotiatedā€ you can remove things that don’t matter and people think they have a win.

I'm going off the top of my head here.

Back in the DuBose era (1998) the same type of legislation was being fought; "The Law vs NCAA." I remember the year, specifically, because of a someone I met watching the Vandy game that season. I remember the case was concluded just after A-day: maybe the very next week.

The "law" in question was called "REC." (Ironic, to a degree.) It was an acronym for "Restricted Earnings Coach." It may have been Oklahoma where it started; somewhere in that area of the country. The court ruled the REC was unconstitutional. It was a violation of the Sherman Act. So, the REC was "killed."

They appealed. I remember it went to the 10th circuit on appeal and the appeal lost.

It was, and is, unconstitutional, just as the appellate court ruled. It is a violation of the "Sherman Antitrust Act."

That was my original point, supported by yours? "....dumber than a box of rocks."

It's been ruled upon. There is precedence, on the books, that the idea is wrong. It's been proven.

But, what the hell...let's propose something.

Not only that that creates a dangerous precedent not just in sports but in business word. Can you imagine capping a teachers salary at 45k?

Continuing my little rant...reason #2 this is dead on arrival.

5. Require all athletics revenue to be equally distributed among schools and athletes.

Let's not waste our time trying to find the logic in Lauren Hall (Bama rowing team) is on the same level as Ryan Williams in terms of NIL and their impact at UA.

Schools? UGA and OSU led the way last season in viewers. Should they be expected to split, equally, the revenue with Marshall?

This bill is idiotic and the dumbasses that created it have their heads up their asses. They want all this ā€œeverybody gets a ribbonā€ and to cap a coaches salary meanwhile every damn one of those idiots in congress trade on the stock market and are worth three times as much as they were when they entered congress.

Yeah how is that the case? I assume you are not a DOGE fan but would love for someone to look into that. Gotta be some shady stuff going on there and doubt it is isolated to one party.
