A Californian talent factory will soon send a quarterback to Alabama.

Bryce Young announced on Twitter Sunday afternoon his decommitment from USC and his commitment to Alabama after visiting the Crimson Tide for its 49-7 win over Southern Miss. Young is a 5-star dual-threat quarterback in the 247 Composite, rated as the second-best dual-threat quarterback in the nation, California’s fourth-best prospect regardless of position and a top 50 prospect at any position nationally. 247’s own rankings are higher on Young, ranking him as the No. 4 prospect in the nation at any position.

Young, out of Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana, California, had been committed to USC for over a year before the switch. Young is the 23rd member of Alabama’s 2020 recruiting class and the lone quarterback in the class, after Carson Beck decommitted from UA and committed to Georgia a few months later.

UA already has a quarterback in its 2021 class, Drake Maye from Myers Park High School in Charlotte.
