HOOVER, Ala. – Alabama baseball picked up a second win in the 2022 SEC Tournament with a 4-3 victory over 10th-ranked and third-seeded Arkansas on Wednesday evening at Hoover Metropolitan Stadium. The Crimson Tide is now 31-25 on the season and 2-0 in the league's postseason tournament.
Alabama was first on the board with two runs in the second and added one more in the top of the third. The Razorbacks struck for one in the home half of the third with the Tide countering for one in the top of the fourth to make it a 4-1 ballgame after four. Arkansas then narrowed the deficit to one with a two-run home run in the sixth but would get no closer. Alabama's bullpen combined to keep Arkansas off the board for the final 2.2 frames to secure the 4-3 win.
Following the two-run homer,
Landon Green entered to record one out.
Antoine Jean (5-1) was next, earning his fifth victory of the season thanks to an impressive outing. The left-hander tossed 2.0 scoreless innings, allowing just one hit and a walk to go with three strikeouts. Tide closer
Dylan Ray shut the door with a strikeout to end the ballgame and notch his eighth save of the season and second in Hoover.
"It was an awesome college baseball game. Fortunately for us, Arkansas helped us a little bit early. To our guys' credit, we took advantage of some mistakes that they made, and, really, the story of the game is that both bullpens were outstanding. There weren't very many hits in the back half of the game. I was really proud of our whole team, but especially those guys that pitched after
Jacob McNairy gave us a good start today. Obviously, a big win for us on so many levels. I'm really happy for our kids and proud of them."
