How to Score a Turkey
Scoring Calculator

The NWTF has developed a formula for scoring trophy gobblers.

First, measure the birds live (undressed) weight to the nearest ounce (Make sure it is a certified scale if you want to submit it to the NWTF). Then measure the birds beard to the nearest 1/16 of an inch from the point of protrusion from the breast to the tip of the longest bristle . Finally, measure along the outside curve of each spur to the nearest 1/16 of an inch. The measurements are then plugged into the following equation.

Score = [Weight] + [2 X Length of Beard(s)] + [10 X (Right Spur Length + Left Spur Length)]

If a bird has multiple beards it is considered a Non-typical. Its score is calculated by using the sum of all the beards' lengths.

You can calculate your score by filling out the form below using numbers with decimals. I've included a decimal equivalency chart to help you convert your measurements.

Examples:
If the beard length is 11 3/16 then enter 11.1875 in the form.
If the weight was 20 lb. 7 oz. (which is 20 7/16 lb.) enter 20.4375
