"The
Rut" It’s
early January in Alabama & the weather’s turning bitterly cold. The
acorns have soured & the second helping of ammonium nitrate is really
making our green fields look nice to the hungry deer population.
This is a special time of year for whitetail hunters.
The does are coming into estrous & the bucks are chasing them with
reckless abandon. This is the “RUT.”
We all know what this means to the hunter, but have you stopped to look
at this magical time of year through the eyes of the Doemaster? We felt
obliged to include this little poem to help you understand the buck’s
perspective: Damn
it’s cold with a frost on the ground I
can’t help but to sniff around From
the top of my horns to the tips of my toes All
my body is thinking ‘bout does It’s
the time of year when my loins are smoking And
all the ladies call me Big-Daddy-Long-Strokin I
love them in the morning I love them at night I
love them whenever the mood is right I
ain’t got time eat I won’t nibble on grass All
I’m craving is a piece of … well I
love it when they run & finally stop… UH I
love it when they call me BIG POP-PA I’m
the daddy yes I’m the man I’m
the lover with the slow hand Ladies
don’t feel guilty don’t feel no shame Just
climb aboard the DOOOOOOOE Train!
