New Tide Commitment: Keenan Allen

November 7, 2009

ATH – Keenan Allen (Guilford HS/Greensboro, NC) 6-3/198/4.6 - Alabama has landed one of the most highly sought after athletes in the 2010 class, Keenan Allen of Greensboro, NC. Since last spring, Alabama has been the leader for Allen, and it has pretty much just been a matter of when he wanted to go public and announce his decision to sign with the Crimson Tide.  After Alabama’s victory over LSU late Saturday afternoon, the time was right.

Allen could play on either side of the line of scrimmage in college, but the staff has him projected as a receiver as of now. In summer camps at The Capstone, Allen worked at both receiver and safety, and starting out in the defensive secondary next fall is not out of the question.

On the defensive side of the ball, he displays fluid hips, good ball skills, and nice range. As a receiver, he shows soft hands and brings a physical style of play to the offense.

As a junior last season, Allen hauled in 42 passes for 709 yards and 11 touchdowns to go along with 554 yards and 8 additional touchdowns on 64 rushing attempts. On defense, Allen totaled 50 tackles and 4 interceptions.

The standout athlete chose the Tide over offers from LSU, Tennessee, Kentucky, South Carolina, West Virginia, Wake Forest, Clemson, North Carolina, Michigan, Duke, Penn State, California, and Oregon among others. In the classroom, he is a good student who will have no issues qualifying.
