2010 Tide Commitment – Corey Grant
July 23, 2009
RB – Corey Grant (Opelika HS/Opelika, AL) 5-10/190/4.4 - Nick Saban’s cherry picking of the top in-state football talent continues. The latest in-state standout that has pledged to sign with Alabama in February is Opelika’s Corey Grant. Grant is not just one of the top players in the state; he’s one of the top running backs in the south. The Opelika back has tremendous speed, shows good vision, good footwork, and can get out on the corner in a hurry. The speedy back will bring some versatility with him to Tuscaloosa. He is almost sure to get a look as a return specialist on special teams, and an expanded role on offense could be in plans as well, specifically lining up in the slot where he can take advantage of his hands and speed. Last season, Grant rushed for 724 yards and 14 touchdowns on 88 carries to go along with 16 receptions for 235 yards and 2 touchdowns. Grant chose Alabama over offers from Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, Auburn, Vanderbilt, Kentucky, Georgia Tech, Oklahoma, and Stanford among others. In the classroom, he is a solid student who is on track to qualify.
